Jennifer Hooper

Director (Independent), Chair of Safety and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee, Chair of Compensation Committee

Jennifer Hooper has over 30 years experience in safety, health, environment, sustainability and human resources in the mining and manufacturing sectors. Her corporate experience includes 10 years with Vale SA, holding the position of Global Head of the health and safety function, focusing on fatality, injury and illness prevention and employee and community health for the years 2011-2017. During her tenure with Vale, Jennifer was recognized as a key leader in implementing the culture, processes and systems to significantly reduce fatalities in the global company.

Jennifer started her career with DuPont Canada holding progressively complex roles including Global Safety, Health, and Environment Lead for the Agriculture and Nutrition Business Platform and Global Director of Climate Change and Emissions Trading. Ms. Hooper complemented her private sector career with policy leadership roles in the Ontario Public Service from 2005-2007. Following her career with Vale S. A., Jennifer was key to starting up a Not-For-Profit organization focused on Climate Change Leadership Development - The Academy for Sustainable Innovation (ASI). As CEO of ASI from 2019-2022, Jennifer established a diversified and sustainable funding base and a suite of programs delivered in partnership with universities and corporate clients.

Jennifer is a holder of the Institute of Corporate Directors designation and supports a number of volunteer organizations and boards. She holds a Master of Science, Civil Engineering (Environmental) from Queens University, and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
